After losing her daughter Emmeline Brancato nearly seven years ago, Shelley Kappauf began making quilts out of Emmy’s old clothing. She found the process of making these memorials therapeutic, and the final products became beautiful reminders of Emmy’s spirit that Shelley shares with family and close friends.

On May 26 and 27, Shelley and her daughter Hannah invite you to design and create a quilt in memory and in honor of a person who has been important in your life. During the workshop, you will be invited to share your memories and talk about the ways in which you carry them through your life. You will learn how to engineer and begin making a quilt-top, and have space and time to remember a loved one through the process of making your quilt.
MATERIALS TO BRING
>> Sewing machine (if available)
>> Iron
>> Thread
>> Scrap fabric
>> Photographs of your loved one
>> Clothing that belonged to the person you are memorializing, or other items that remind you of that person.

Using the book The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron, this 13-week study is geared for anyone trying to find his or her creative self and interested in practicing the art of creative living.  It will not make you a writer, painter or film-maker, yet if you want to get in touch with your right brain and examine perhaps a long held belief that you are not a creative being, come to this class to learn things like: a sense of identity, integrity, abundance and more.  During these 13 weeks, we will talk about these things as other beliefs.  Class on Feb. 20 is the introduction and will last from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm. Class needs a minimum of five participants and maximum of 10. Register early to save your place!
